Harpo Marx

The 1st photo is Harpo Marx (one of the Marx Brothers) in the marvellous film Duck Soup. I like his character a lot, he is all the film long getting his pair of scissors and cutting whatever he likes. That was actually my inspiration! I'm reading his autobiography "Harpo Speaks" and liked already the beginning:

"I don't know whether my life has been a success or a failure. But not having any anxiety about becoming one instead of the other, and just taking things as they came along, I've had a lot of extra time to enjoy life."

I also read already the last part of the book, where his son writes about his dad. That's very touching in my opinion. Harpo Marx is probably best known playing the harp. And about that his son says the following: "Funny thing about Harpo the natural musician. He was not a natural natural. Most people who play by ear pick up first on the melody and next on the beat. The subtle colors and textures of harmony are usually way beyond them. With Harpo, just the opposite. He was virtually oblivious to melody. His sense of rhythm was, to put it kindly, unpredictable. But harmony! Ahhh! It was sheer sound that sent him into raptures, swamping whatever sense of melody he had......he performed music like his father, Frenchie, had performed tailoring: with an unerring feel for fabric and color (harmony) but very little for cutting and fitting (melody and tempo)."

I guess we know now where Harpo got his inspiration from to wear always a pair of scissors with him to be able to cut cigars and all kind of other things when he liked to.
